Choosing the Right Urn
A simple quick guide to help you make a confident decision, without overwhelm.
Step 1 - Choose the Size
Size is the most important decision. Once size is correct, everything else is flexible.
Full-Size Urn - Best for most adults
- Holds the full amount of ashes for one adult
- Typically around 200 cubic inches of internal capacity
- Suitable for home display, columbarium placement, or burial
- Most families choose this option
When unsure, a full-size urn is the safest choice.
Small Urn - For sharing or remembrance
Also called a keepsake urn
- Holds a small portion of ashes
- Often chosen when ashes are divided among family members
- Also used alongside a full-size urn
A small urn is not intended to hold all ashes for an adult.
Companion Urn - For two individuals
- Designed to hold ashes for two people
- Typically 300 cubic inches or more, depending on design
- Often chosen by couples planning ahead
Step 2 - Material
Our urns are crafted from metal, chosen for its durability and long-term stability.Metal urns are suitable for home display, columbarium placement, or burial.Material does not affect suitability — it primarily affects appearance.
Step 3 - Choose the Design
Design is about what feels appropriate, not about choosing something “correct.”
